7.5" Bags

As 7.5" shoulder bags are really popular this fall/winter, Bagopedia is thinking of getting one. It is totally against what I am used to- a 40 CM Birkin carrying all. I do really like an idea of not taking my 40 CM to the dinner parties after work. 

I like to have a smaller bag for lunch. I think a long wallet or a clutch will do it without spending more money. It is not so easy for the dinner which requires more a evening bag.

There are a few 7.5" shoulder bags that I like:

This 7.5" Versus reminds me of Elizabeth Hurley's Versace pin dress in 1994. It became one of the most famous dress even Lady Gaga worn it in 2012. 

The bag is retailed for $650.00 CAD. I think it is reasonable as a totally leather bag.

I also like this Kenzo as Kenzo is really hot lately. Since it launched the Tiger collection since last year, the Tiger prints become really hot. 

This Kenzo bag is retailed for $670.00 CAD. Also not a bad price tag.

The last one is the Proenza Schouler PS 11 Iridescent shoulder bag. As Bagopedia said last time, the Beetle or Iridescent bags are the must this season. This bag also can't go wrong with anything.

The price tag is higher as PS series is a higher end line. It is $2,175.00.

Bags For This Fall/Winter

Yes, another 3 months have passed from my last entry. Bagopedia is surprised that people still visit this blog.

Today I will share some of my recent purchases and thoughts about the bags this fall/winter:

LANVIN $590.00, Net-A-Porter

I saw this LANVIN pouch this morning on NAP and I purchased it immediately. I love the beetles! You can't really describe the colors. The beetle colors are big this fall/winter. Tory Burch is all over it. This season many big brand have something in beetle colors. 

Bottega Veneta did the beetle collection for fall 2010. I loved the tote but it was so limited. I didn't get one.

BVLGARI Serpenti Bag, $1,950-$2,650, BVLGARI Stores

I bought this BVLGARI bag. It is elegant and classic. I was offered one in green so I took it. The bag is still now on pre-ordred stage. I love this green. The bag looks like a large emerald. It is really beautiful! I also chose the biggest bag because I don't want to spend so much money for a bag that can only be carried in the evenings. Even the largest bag is only 30 CM.

GUCCI Bamboo Shopper, $1,890-$2,290, GUCCI.com

The third bag I have purchased this season is this GUCCI shopper. I liked the black but I chose this red instead. I don't have any bags in red and this is a red I really like. I love the bamboo details. The tote has a lot of compartments and pockets inside. It is a well-organized tote.

Bagopedia's Comment: This bag just came out on the market. It really makes me feel like I want to sell my PS1 bag.

I bought my PS1 bag but only carried it about 3 times. I don't really find I like it very much. I guess people do buy things just because everyone has it. I just found the design is really busy. After that, I even felt that Proenza Schouler hasn't been able to produce a better bag. 

This bag is ok itself. However, for a designer brand whom we have so much expectation for better and better, it ends up more disappointments. 

Bagopedia is hoping to see the turn-around designs like Celine.

Bagopedia's Comment: Bagopedia went to the Nordstrom store and saw this bag. I can't wait to share it with you: It is a great buy! For $198.00 you will get a very current designed crossbody bag with leather (I won't say the quality of the leather is great but for the price tag it is acceptable). The combination of the colors are great. The leather/lining mix also gives a spring summer look. 

I have to admit the design has a shadow of the Proenza Schouler PS1 look, but I like the look of this one even better. 

The bag is not big so it is perfect for running errands.

The lining looks pretty good for the asking price.

Bagopedia's Comment: Dark Green is the "IT' color for the coming fall. It mixes well with dark red, purple, or dark orange. The bag has a solid look and Phillip Lim's signature side zippers. Bagopedia really likes it because it looks like a simple Proenza Schouler PS1 bag with a lighter price tag. It has the right elements but doesn't take away the look. It goes with my Burberry military coat and Hunter boots.

Bagopedia's Comment: Fashion houses love to abuse their iconic bags to stimulate sales until the bag is ruined. Balenciaga did it to its Motorcycle bags. This time Proenza Schouler takes its iconic PS1 bag and makes it into a keep all tote. Personally, Bagopedia thinks the bag looks fine. But if you compare this tote to its original PS1, this bag totally loses the PS1's cool look. Also, the handles are too long. Even more, the flap makes the bag impossible to use it. Ideally, you put all you need in the front pocket and put the extra inside the bag. For Bagopedia, I think a keep-all bag should have an easier access.

Braving the chilly fall weather, the stars of “Gossip Girl” were spotted working hard on location in the Chinatown district of New York City.

Hunky heartthrob Chace Crawford looked dapper in a black suit as he strolled around the Capitale Lounge, later sporting a red plaid button-up with jeans. Also on the set was Leighton Meester, who couldn’t seem to get enough of her mobile phone, even pulling Chace aside to show him a picture on it.

Leighton carried a Proenza Schouler Large Suede PS1 Bag ($1,995.00-L, $1,595.00-M, Barneys New York). I was not crazy about Proenza bags until recently I started to know them better. For a very long time, I only bought tote bags because they were the only style that I need for my lifestyle. I only started to know more bags after I started this blog. I read a lot of magazines to learn how to wear other style bags and what clothes to wear them with. It takes a lot of practices since I only wear handbags by hand or elbow. It also takes a while to become comfortable with shoulder bags and clutches. Now I love them all.

The Proenza Schouler bags are actually quite a treat- with a simple design and strong identity. The colors that they make are beautiful. The price is a bit high, but I consider as investment. It will last a while because it doesn't have a seasonal design.

Kristen carries a Proenza Schouler PS1 Leather Pochette in midnight blue ($895.00 Barneys New York). I am glad that I saw this bag today. It gives me an opportunity to blog about it. Proenza Schouler was founded in 2002 as a high-end apparel brand. They started to make handbags and shoes these couple years and has gained many celebrity fans. I am not crazy about most bags they make, but I like this one. I appreciate the way it is a great quality bag and so easy to be ignored. The metal foldover closure helps so you don't have to open the straps all the time. The color is very unique and goes beautifully with black dress or jeans.
