Like this Cole Haan clutch, you can carry it as a shoulder bag as well as a clutch by removing the strap. I always put one like this inside my large tote bags. I can take it out for lunch when I don't need to carry my large bag.

I like this clutch even I personally find Cole Haan too safe. The design is simple so carrying it during the day time is quite ok too. The price tag also doesn't burn your wallet.
